Hudson River Day
At Nyack, Piermont & Haverstraw Waterfronts
Hudson River Day is a Relay Flotilla signature event of the Quadricentennial involving boat and yacht clubs between NY Harbor and Albany. The launching of this event in Rockland is scheduled for June 6th. A flotilla of boats from clubs in Manhattan led by Coast Guard and Naval Ships, and NYS heritage flagships the "Onrust", "Half Moon", "Woodie Guthrie", Mystic Whaler", and "Clearwater". NYC will start off the parade, rounding the tip of Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty. Tracing Henry Hudson’s path to Albany, the flotilla will move northward reaching Albany on June 12th. Local marinas and other pleasure craft are being asked to join in along the way. The procession is scheduled to drop anchor at the Nyack Boat Club on the evening of June 6th, and set sail at 8AM on Sunday, June 7th and shall arrive in Haverstraw by 11AM-2PM for a three-hour celebration. Our special membership event on February 3, 2009 was a success. The performance of "The Open Window" by Mark Judelson, accompanied by Claude Gilbert on Cello was inspiring. Thanks to all who attended and to all who became members of Rockland Friends of Clearwater.
